White Speaker Nico painted and more Grand Mother

A little bit later than promised, but I have finished the Nico figure, I am pleased with the results and I really enjoyed painting her, as I said before a lovely model, not to happy with the metallics, think it is down to needing new paint brushes. I have also taken some better pictures of the Grand Mother.
The back drop I have made from blue foam board to fit in my display cabinet and hopefully double as a game board when the game is released, I plan to make more (I have three more shelves) another internal dungeon, and two external wilderness settings.

I hope you like them.
I have block painted all the base colours on the Man Hunter miniature so he should be next up.

White Speaker Nico arrives

Yesterday morning a small parcel turned up containing Kingdom Deaths new miniature, absolutely beautiful, the sculpting is exquisite as usual but what strikes me is the amazing sense of balance/movement, I have rarely seen a model that captures the sense of natural movement as well as this. The options are great and I am looking forward to the chance to convert the Pin up model when I can afford to add her to the collection (need to keep up with forthcoming new releases). As has become expected the casting is virtually flawless no bubbles or missing areas at all and only a small mould line down the back, in some cases so fine that I only saw it after undercoating. This is one of the nicest releases so far, just a shame it wasn't sold in a pack with three different bodies preferably with different leg positions, but would still of prefered three casts of the current bodies as each of the  three options make the model significantly different. This is the first time I have seen the new bases and even though I won't be using them (as all my figures are being based on 25mm clear circular bases, available from  http://www.oshiromodelterrain.co.uk/gamingaids.html, these are only 0.5mm thick and are virtually invisible on the base board allowing my models to work in any environment I choose) I really like them and can see plenty of opportunity for future releases to come with scenic base options. Models are available from here: http://shop.kingdomdeath.com/
I have painted most of the base colours, then I can start, shading and highlighting, will post pictures of her, the finished scenery and better ones of Grand Mother on Sunday or Monday.
I have decided that my aim is to paint one of each of the Game models (not the Pin-ups) by the end of April 2013 and there after to keep up with the new releases.
Just so I can provide a new photo, here is a bit of scenery I built for a competition (I won) that I plan to use in my KD games

My first miniature and a little introduction

I have been following and collecting the Kingdom Death Miniatures since their inception. I thought it was about time I started to paint them and thought by starting a Blog it would help keep me motivated as well as hopefully supporting Adam Poots, the owner and driving force behind Kingdom Death.

I know these figures are not to everyone's taste, whether you like the concept or not these figures are some of the most beautifully sculpted and perfect casts, I have quite a lot and I have not seen one bubble or miscast.

Any way on to my first model I painted this about a week ago. I started with this one as I wanted to practice my whites prior to painting the White Speaker miniature which was next on list (until the latest release, so now waiting for it's arrival., I also need to order the Pin-up White Speaker to use some of the extra parts from the new model on so I can create three completely individual models of each character variant).
I am quite pleased with the result apart from the poor photographs.

I am currently finishing off the detail work on the Dungeon wall as well as painting a few other scenic items/game tokens. Tomorrow I start painting the Man Hunter miniature.

I have got some bits such as a tripod to improve my photographic set up so will take some better photograph's later this week.
